Before You Pack That Cruise Suitcase... Read This π
If you're planning a cruise, a Caribbean vacation, or really any international trip, listen up.
Did you know that in some Caribbean countries, wearing camouflage clothing is actually against the law?
Now imagine packing your favorite camo shorts, your little camo jacket, or that cute matching airport set... and finding out when you get there that you shouldn't be wearing it. Most people spend a lot of time researching resorts, excursions, and restaurants. But very few people research the laws of the places they're visiting.
And here's the thing:
Just because something is normal where you live doesn't mean it's allowed somewhere else.
Different countries have different rules.
Different customs.
Different expectations.
And if you accidentally break a law while traveling, saying "I didn't know" usually won't get you out of trouble. That's why one of the best travel habits you can develop is spending 15 minutes researching your destination before you leave.
Things like:
β’ Local dress restrictions
β’ Photography restrictions
β’ Currency rules
β’ Customs regulations
β’ Entry requirements
β’ Cultural etiquette
Those little things can save you a lot of frustration.
I always tell people:
The goal is to enjoy the trip, not spend the trip explaining yourself.
Travel is freedom.
Travel is joy.
Travel is collecting experiences you'll remember forever.
But part of traveling well is respecting the places you're visiting. So before you zip up that suitcase, do yourself a favor.
Google:
"What should travelers know before visiting ________?"
That simple search could save your entire vacation.
One more thing...
If you're traveling with Y.O.G.O.L., you don't have to figure all of this out on your own. We provide destination guidance, travel requirements, important local customs, and the details that first-time travelers often don't know to ask about.
Because vacation should feel like vacation.
Not another project to manage.
That's part of taking care of my travelers.
If you've ever been surprised by a law, rule, or custom while traveling, drop it in the comments. I'd love to hear about it.
And if you're the friend who's always packing at the last minute, share this with somebody who needs it.
Until next time...
Leave the title at home.
Bring the passport.
You only get one life. Act like it.
